WE ONLY TALK GOOD AND NOTHING ELSE!!!

Majority of people from lse live in gulberg, defence, cantontment and model town etc  and we call ourselves as lahori’s ! My question to them is do we live in real Lahore? And the answer is No. The real Lahore is walled city ,Anarkli etc. We talk almost daily about NRO , JUSTICE , AMERICAN WAR and INDIAN INRTUSION  . Have we ever analysed our selves ? NO ! Because we are insensitive towards our own people? Insestive towards people living in slums in andaroon shehar! People who don’t even have shelter to live, food to eat!!! Actually we have become so cold!
So my team has made a small effort in bringing you the real picture of Lahore!!!

LAHORE THE CITY OF COLOURS!
Lahore is the soul of Pakistan.....fashionable, artistic Lahore, where the fine art of living is refined to levels of excellence.  Lahore is a grand old city with wide streets, tree-lined vistas, beautifully laid-out Mughal gardens and buildings rubbing shoulders with old streets and medieval bazaars, reminiscent of its Islamic and colonial past.
Now the second largest city in the country with a population of 5 million, Lahore continues to be a centre for the artistic and cultural tradition of Pakistan. Lahorians with their cultured tastes, splendidly attired women and polished men are known for their friendliness and warmth. “Lahore is Lahore” is a phrase commonly heard and is an example of Lahori pride in the uniqueness and splendor of their city.

THE CITY OF BRICKS!!!! WALLED CITY

The Walled City of Lahore, also known as the "Old City," or "Anderoon Shehr “ is the section of Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan, that was surrounded by a city wall during the Mughal era. Lahore city is a huge touristic attraction. It comprises of 13 gates, out of which Bhati Gate, Delhi Gate, Kashmiri Gate, Lahori Gate, Roshnai Gate, Shairwala Gate are surviving and Akbari Gate Masti Gate, Mochi Gate, Mori Gate,, Shahalmi Gate, Taxali Gate, and Yakki Gate unfortunately, no longer exist. The reasons for this non-existence are sketchy. I know for sure that the Yakki Gate fell because of the war, but I am not sure about the others.

Moving on, the Walled city boasts many attractions. Amongst the popular ones are the Lahore fort, the Badshahi Masjid, Wazir Khan Mosque Data Durbar Complex and a few Havelies.

Lahore Fort

First stop is the Lahore Fort The Lahore Fort, locally referred to as Shahi Qila citadel of the city of Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It is located in the northwestern corner of Lahore, adjacent to the Walled City. Some of the famous sites within the fort are Sheesh Mahal, Alamgiri Gate, Naulakha pavilion, and Moti Masjid. The fort is 1,400 feet long and 1,115 feet wide. In 1981, the fort was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the Shalamar Gardens.

Badshahi Mosque

The Badshahi Masjid or the Emperor's Masjid, was built in 1673 by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in Lahore, Pakistan. It is one of the city's best known landmarks, and a major tourist attraction epitomizing the beauty and grandeur of the era. Capable of accommodating over 55,000 worshipers, it is the second largest Masjid in Pakistan, after the Faisal Masjid in Islamabad. The architecture and design of the Badshahi Masjid is closely related to the Jama Masjid in Delhi, India, which was built in 1648 by Aurangzeb's father and predecessor, emperor Shah Jahan.

Wazir khan Mosque

The Wazir Khan Mosque in Lahore, Pakistan, is famous for its extensive faience tile work. It has been described as "a mole on the cheek of Lahore." It was built in seven years, starting around 1634-1635 A.D., during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan. It was built by Shaikh Ilm-ud-din Ansari, a native of Chiniot, who rose to be the court physician to Shah Jahan and later, the Governor of Lahore. He was commonly known as Wazir Khan (the word wazir means "minister" in Urdu language). The Masjid is located inside the Inner City and is easiest accessed from Delhi Gate.

Data Durbar

Data Durbar is the tomb of Hazrat Syed Abul Hassan Bin Usman Bin Ali Al-Hajweri, the famous Sufi saint of South Asia, where hundreds of thousands of people come each year to pay their respects and to say their prayers. It is located in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. The large complex also includes Jamia Hajveria, or Hajveri Masjid.

Beautiful as these sights are, continuously under threat from factors such deterioration through encroachments, lack of awarenes and acid rains. The Punjab government has done very little to counter this. It is very sad when one finds graffiti scribbled on the fort walls.

Heera Mandi – The Dream House of the Whores!!!

"I visited this place a year back. Actually I was just sight-seeing the different areas of Androon sher with friends. One of my friends spoke about Heera Mandi because of high curiosity we all planned to witness that area but what I personally felt and after that studied about that area is mentioned below. The place. The dream house of whore. Its all done behind curtains in the real side of Lahore and I regret that an area which was known to be traditionally updated is now shadowed by the sinful acts".

Until a few years back, Heera Mandi was acclaimed for its musical heritage. It boasted a rich tradition of Indian classical music and indeed many famous singers of the subcontinent were born, groomed, and trained in its chambers

It was strange walking in the by-lanes of Heera Mandi. Officially, Pakistan is an Islamic republic where prostitution is punishable by death and where most of the women do not show their naked face to any male except their closest relatives.

Yet we were in a neighborhood, in the heart of Lahore, which seemed to have been frozen in time. It was as if the outer rules of the much real world could not intrude here. No one seemed to be bothered by the laws that were applicable in the rest of the city.

Heera Mandi was like a paradise where one could freely indulge himself in the pleasures of the flesh, where one could get away from the oppressed world of Shariat laws and Koranic injunctions; a balm which one could apply to soothe his soul made claustrophobic by so many morals; a relief which one could momentarily cherish amidst a life made predictable and burdensome by nagging spouses and aged parents.

Heera Mandi was a world far away from the despairing headlines of Islamic fundamentalism, America’s war on terrorism, and Bin laden videos. It was a world very different from all the known worlds. Heera Mandi was an easy place where life was unreal and where it was possible to experience unconditional love and fanciful sex — for a price.

THE AREA OF GLOW!!!

Gulberg is a residential and commercial area of Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It is known for its upscale shopping centres, restaurants, posh residential areas and the Hafeez Centre (the largest computer and mobile market in Lahore). It also includes Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium Sports Complex, the home of Pakistani cricket. It is also known as the hub of the fashion industry in Pakistan, and is the location of PACE (an upscale shopping mall.) It is bordered by the Allama Iqbal International Airport to the east, the Model Town development to the south, the Aitchison College campus to the north, and the Shadman district to the west. Gulberg is considered to be one of the most exclusive residential areas in Lahore.

Many of Pakistan's leading industrial clans, entrepreneurs, and "pro-establishment" social elite maintain residences in Gulberg, making it the civilian epicenter of Lahore, as Military families of high rank either reside in the city of Rawalpindi, or in the Cantonment("Cantt")district of Lahore.

Lahore's two major markets both are located in Gulberg. The Main Market and Liberty Market are commercial hubs in central Lahore, functioning as half-souq/bazaar, half shopping mall in appearance and layout.

Main Market provides an ever expanding shopping area for a variety of goods. Along side Main Market is the Canal Park Bazar boasting more than 1000 shops. Liberty Market offers a wide variety of shops, department stores, and clothing outlets, and is considered by many Lahoris to be the main shopping plaza of the city. Traffic Jams are the norm. liberty market is also one the main attractions of the gulberg, as it is the shopping point of thousands of lahoris, this market targets everyone from middle class to upper class. In recent years the condition of liberty market has been significantly improved, roads are repaired, now providing larger parking facilities, better traffic system, as more policemen are appointed to deal with the traffic issue.

Most of Lahore's major high-end commercial districts are located within Gulberg, including M M Alam Road, Gulberg Main Boulevard, portions of The Mall Road, Noor Jehan Road, Jail Road, Gaddafi Stadium, and others.

Gulberg has been always the residential area for rich and top class people. Many cricketers and Pakistani film stars reside in this prestigious place. A personal visit to the town clearly indicates that it is one of the posh locality in Lahore as it is full of large graceful bungalows and houses. Gulberg's posh reputation is well-deserved. Leading athletic competitions, health and fitness gyms, as well as bi-gender swimming pools are easily accessible to the wealthy inhabitants of the district. The area is known for its cultural centrality for the modern pro-establishment elites of Pakistan, as well as the presence of nearly all of Lahore and Punjab's prestigious non-military families. In contrast to purana Lahore or small muhalas of Lahore situated in east of Lahore, gulberg has every sort of facility well maintained carpeted roads, complete sanitation system, security gates and large play grounds for every block.

THE AREA OF OLD RICH!!!

Model Town is famous countrywide because many political leaders live here — for example, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Mayor Lahore, Mian Amer Mahmood, and many other mna and mpa live here. A preliminary committee of 21 members was formed under the chairmanship of Khan Bahadur Sir Sh. Abdul Qadir to frame the by-laws and to carry out other necessary work in connection with the formation of the society. Grewal's Group served Model Town a lot as a Member in Assembly or as a construction (repair) of Model Town.

Model Town Society is spread over an area of 1463 acres (5.9 km²). This area is further divided into ten blocks (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K). Blocks L, M, N, P, Q, R and S are in the outskirts of Model Town and are administered by Lahore Development Authority (LDA). These blocks were named "Model Town Extension" when Model Town Society sold this land to LDA in return of developmental works.

The total population of Model Town is about 100,000. Model Town Society is a unique housing area in its design and is considered a posh locality of the town. Each block has its own market, playground, mosque, triangular parks, etc., which is a rare phenomenon as compared to other housing schemes. Model town has a green area of 278 acres 19% of the total area and 4% of it consists of play grounds.

Taxis and rickshaws were reluctant to come to Model Town due to its distance from the main city, and many social elites dubbed the development "out of Lahore", given its distance from the heart of the city. However, in recent years Model Town has become a cultural center for the "nouveau riche" of Lahore's growing socioeconomic elite, many of whom who view a Model Town address as a vehicle for upward mobility in socially rigid Pakistan.

Model Town Lahore has some good places for food-lovers, like "Bhaiya Kabab shop" in D-Block Inner Market, Nafees Dhai Bhalle, Gol Gapay, Ladu Pithi in A-Block, Goshi restaurant, Sholay Restaurant (Sheesha of Sholay is the best Sheesha in the town), Sadeeq Kabab shop in C-Block Main Market, Goga Naqebia Murgh Chanay in A-Block market and Q-Block flats, Lahore's Best Smosay of Amjad in A-Block Market, and Abid Shah's local chapper hotel outside almunatazir H-block.

Model Town Park is one of the largest public parks of Lahore consisting of 125 acres of land. It was part of the original plan but was developed in 1990 by Governor Punjab General Jilani. This circular park is surrounded by the inner circular road of Model Town
